Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, deeply rooted in daily life, handwoven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, along with soft and pleasant-feeling fibers containing a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, created from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
