Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers with high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request and shipped without them.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
