Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, naturally dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one by one, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, created from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
