Regarding the product
Persian carpets are "hand-woven works of art," with each one meticulously crafted by artisans. Made from natural materials like wool and silk, they feature intricate patterns and designs that become richer with age, allowing for long-term enjoyment. In contrast, most common rugs are mass-produced by machines and are characterized by their relatively affordable price. They come in a wide variety of designs and sizes, making them easy to incorporate into any space. Persian carpets are an item to "use for a long time," while regular rugs are an item to "enjoy casually." We recommend choosing based on your lifestyle and purpose.
Hand-knotted rugs are characterized by their exceptional durability and longevity, as artisans meticulously knot each thread, making them a time-consuming and labor-intensive craft. They are akin to "heirlooms" that gain character with use, allowing you to enjoy their aging process. Furthermore, even with the same design, each rug has a unique expression, making every piece one-of-a-kind.
In contrast, machine-woven rugs are uniformly produced in factories, resulting in relatively affordable prices and a wide variety of sizes and designs. They are easy to incorporate into your home and are suitable for redecorating or using for different seasons. Our machine-woven rugs are original products, featuring a very fine weave of 1.44 million knots per square meter. The tightly packed weave makes it difficult for dust to accumulate, and daily cleaning is easy. Even if they get dirty, they can be wiped with a damp cloth, and hand-washing with a neutral detergent in your home bathtub is also possible.
Hand-knotted rugs are recommended for those who want to use them carefully for a long time or those who wish to enjoy their space with a unique piece of art.
On the other hand, machine-woven rugs are perfect for those who prioritize ease of handling and maintenance, households with small children or pets, and those buying a rug for the first time.
Both Gabbeh and kilim are traditional hand-woven rugs primarily made in Iran, but there are significant differences in their weaving and feel.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their long pile and thick, fluffy texture. Woven by nomads in southern Iran, they are highly practical rugs that were originally used in daily life. Made from wool, they are warm in winter and cool in summer, making them comfortable to use all year round. They also offer good cushioning, making them ideal for living rooms and relaxed spaces.
Kilims, on the other hand, are characterized by their flat weave, thinness, and light finish. There are various types depending on the weaving method and region of origin, offering a rich variety of designs that reflect the individuality of each ethnic group. They are breathable and easy to handle, making them suitable for all seasons. They are also easy to move and rearrange. Many people enjoy using them not only as floor coverings but also as decorative wall hangings.
Both are hand-woven, offering the unique appeal of a one-of-a-kind item.
Gabbeh is recommended for those who prioritize a soft seating experience and practicality, while kilim is recommended for those who desire lightness, design variety, and a wide range of uses.
Although it depends on the type and usage of the rug, proper care will ensure its longevity.
Hand-woven Persian rugs, in particular, are extremely durable and can last for decades, sometimes even generations. Their appeal lies in how their texture improves with age, allowing you to enjoy their natural aging process.
Machine-woven and cotton carpets, on the other hand, are suitable for everyday use, easy to handle, and can be used for a long time according to your lifestyle. Regular maintenance will make them even more comfortable to use.
Yes, carpets can generally be used year-round, regardless of the season.
Wool carpets, in particular, keep you warm in winter and absorb moisture in summer, providing a smooth and comfortable feel that makes them suitable for all seasons.
Additionally, bamboo silk and cotton carpets are lightweight and breathable, making them especially easy to use in hotter seasons. We also recommend using different carpets depending on the season and the atmosphere of your room.
Le Farsi is a highly practical cotton carpet, a specialty of Yazd, a desert city in Iran, that has been used in daily life since ancient times.
Made from natural cotton, it is cool in summer and warm in winter, even over a heated carpet or underfloor heating. It is comfortable to use in any season, durable, easy to handle, and a major advantage is that it can be easily cleaned at home.
It features a fine weave and a light, supple texture. In addition to being used as a mat, its breathability makes it ideal for preventing tatami from fading in the sun, and it can also be used widely as a bed or sofa cover.
Furthermore, it is reversible, allowing you to enjoy it according to your mood or purpose. Since it can be washed entirely in a household washing machine, it can always be kept clean. Therefore, it can be used with peace of mind in homes with pets or small children.
It is lightweight and easy to carry, and can be used not only indoors but also outdoors as a leisure sheet. It is a convenient item that can be used in various situations, such as camping and picnics.
Bamboo silk rugs are made from fibers derived from bamboo, characterized by a beautiful luster and smooth texture reminiscent of silk.
Carefully crafted using machine weaving (machine-made), they offer intricate designs and a consistently beautiful finish, while also being attractively priced to keep costs down.
With an elegant sheen similar to silk, they also boast excellent durability, making them a popular and practical material for everyday use. They have a cool touch, providing comfort especially during warmer seasons.
Furthermore, they are relatively easy to maintain and handle. Combining a luxurious appearance with practicality, they are recommended for those who wish to elevate the ambiance of spaces such as living rooms or bedrooms.
They are also an accessible option for those who admire the beauty of silk rugs but are hesitant about the price.
Size and How to Choose
The key is to choose based on the size of your room and how it balances with your furniture.
If you want the rug to be the focal point of the room, a larger size is recommended. If you want to use it as an accent, a smaller size is better. If you're unsure, measuring the actual space where you plan to place it will help you visualize it more easily.
If you only want to place the rug in front of the sofa, a size that accommodates both the table and your feet is recommended.
For a three-seater sofa, sizes around 150x200cm or 160x240cm work well.
If you want a more spacious feel, choose a larger size where the front legs of the sofa slightly rest on the rug, which creates a sense of unity in the space.
Sizes like 200x250cm or 200x300cm are recommended.
A key tip for making your room appear larger is to choose a slightly oversized rug.
For a single-person apartment, sizes around 75x120cm to 150x200cm are easy to use and recommended.
Choosing a compact size to suit the location, such as next to the bed or in front of the sofa, is also popular. By selecting a size that fits the room's spaciousness without being overbearing, you can achieve a balanced look.
For bedside use, sizes around 75x120cm or 100x150cm are convenient and recommended. They fit perfectly at the foot of the bed, making your first step out of bed comfortable.
If you want to cover a slightly larger area, choosing a larger size like 150x200cm will create a sense of spaciousness and unity in the room.
Additionally, long, narrow runner-type rugs are also popular and recommended for those who want to neatly incorporate a rug beside their bed.
We recommend choosing based on the atmosphere of your room and the color of your furniture.
For a calm space, natural colors like beige or gray are recommended, while patterned or colorful designs are great if you want to add an accent.
If you're unsure, it's easier to decide based on whether you want to "blend it in with your current room" or "change the impression."

Care
Basically, vacuuming regularly is sufficient.
For daily maintenance, you can keep it clean by removing dust and dirt. Also, by avoiding direct sunlight and regularly rotating it, you can keep it looking good for longer. Furthermore, we recommend cleaning it every few years when you start to notice dirt.
If you would like to request cleaning, please feel free to contact us.
It depends on the material and type.
Cotton carpets (such as Le Farsi) can be machine washed at home.
For Gabbeh, hand wash with water (do not use hot water) and a scalp shampoo or wool detergent. Wring out thoroughly, then lay flat and dry in a well-ventilated, sunny spot for several days. If left submerged in water for too long, bleeding may occur. After washing, remove water as quickly as possible.
Persian carpets (machine-made) can be hand-washed with a brush, water, and a neutral detergent. Wring out thoroughly, then lay flat and dry in a well-ventilated, sunny spot for several days. Likewise, if left submerged in water for too long, bleeding may occur. After washing, remove water as quickly as possible.
On the other hand, while wool and silk hand-woven Persian carpets, kilims, and bamboo silk products are not unwashable, there are specific washing methods suitable for these carpets, so we generally do not recommend washing them yourself. Please avoid water washing and we recommend professional cleaning. Our store also offers cleaning services by skilled Persian artisans. Please contact us for details.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Generally, for all carpets, vacuuming once a week along the direction of the weave is sufficient for daily care. If you spill juice or other beverages, please wipe them up immediately with a damp cloth. Other maintenance methods vary depending on the carpet, so please refer to "Product Handling Instructions." We also accept requests for cleaning and other services. Our expert craftsmen will handle the maintenance, so please feel free to contact us. For inquiries, click here.
Other
Yes. Those are attached to reinforce the carpet/Gabbeh, but since the carpet/Gabbeh itself is woven very durably, you can remove them if you wish. In that case, please cut the threads and remove the leather, being careful not to damage the Gabbeh. *The threads are sewn in such a way that they can be removed without excessive pulling.
Yes. The pom-poms on the four corners are considered to protect the corners of the house in Iran and are sewn on afterwards as an amulet. If you are concerned about dust or pet mischief, you can remove them and use the item, and there will be no quality issues. If you remove them, please cut the yarn sewn to the base and gently remove them so as not to damage the Gabbeh. Also, even if you store the pom-poms separately, they will still serve as an amulet, so if you are concerned, please keep them and do not discard them.
Yes. Le Farsi is an original brand product that we specially order and have manufactured at a factory in Iran. This is a carpet that has been improved over 30 years by incorporating customer feedback, so the Le Farsi you purchased previously may differ in "color," "pattern," "edge finishing," "texture," etc. We appreciate your understanding in advance. Also, as we also sell wholesale, the store where you previously purchased may have been a different store than ours.
Iranian wool is of good quality, and in the case of Gabbeh and Persian rugs, it almost never feels prickly. However, in the case of Kilim, which is a flatweave, or if you stroke it against the direction of the weave, you may experience a prickly sensation. If you are concerned, please contact us before purchasing, and our staff can check the actual texture and provide a response. Alternatively, you can also check it directly at our showroom, so please feel free to visit. For directions to our store, click here.
