Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They hand-weave these rugs using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously one strand at a time by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
