Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also known for being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
