Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with such wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
