Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh is a long-pile rug woven by hand by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature well.
Gabbeh, made by hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so it doesn't feel hot.

Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing irregularities, etc. Please be aware that these are all part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
