Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their soft and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
