Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilventilated shade.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing variations, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed for shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped to you upon request.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
