Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature variations, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
