Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
