Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils that effectively regulates body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh, created from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
