Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a rooted part of their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, hand-woven knot by knot by Iranian nomads from this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, dye variations, and so on. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
