Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product, known as Persian Variat, possesses excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
