Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, vegetable-dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture containing a lot of oil to help regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their soft and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh, created imaginatively by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.

Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery if requested.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
