Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, made by nomads who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Densely woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
