Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile carpets handwoven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven by Iranian nomads, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
Strongly woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed for shipment.

If requested, we can ship Gabbeh with the pompoms on the corners and in the middle removed.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
