Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of fat to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting outstanding durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling. And above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also suitable for hanging on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
