Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, offering a cool sensation. And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being an original and unique item. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If stains are a concern: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
