Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their way of life. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one an original, unique piece with no two alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
