Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads thread by thread from wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is exceptionally durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat.
And above all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for placing on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortions, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
