Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a type of long-pile rug deeply rooted in daily life, handwoven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a high oil content, allowing for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh, handwoven by Iranian nomads by carefully dyeing this wool with natural dyes, one strand at a time, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh boasts exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
It can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
