Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled carpets woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
