Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically traverse the Zagros Mountains in Iran. These long-piled rugs, dyed with natural plant dyes and made from sheep's wool, are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush, comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation. And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not discover your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
