Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, and are deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content that allows for good body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there's their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.
If requested, we can ship your Gabbeh with the pompoms on the corners or middle removed.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your order shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
