Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, handwoven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being handwoven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
