Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, hand-woven by them using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that will be with you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If stained: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
