What is a Kilim?Persian hand-woven kilims are globally popular and are traditional hand-woven textiles that deepen in character with use. Depending on the era in which they were woven, they are referred to as vintage kilims, old kilims, or antique kilims, and are loved by people of all ages. Most kilims are made of wool, but some kilims using cotton or silk are also produced. Natural materials are used. Natural dyes are also used for coloring, so you can use them with peace of mind. These hand-woven kilims are robustly woven and are based on the design styles of tribes and ethnic groups, known as tribal rugs. They feature geometric patterns with motifs of nature and animals, and each kilim has a unique design.
Various ethnic groups live in the vast land of Iran. The designs and colors vary by region of origin, offering a diverse range of design patterns to enjoy.
Kilims are widely used not only as carpets or floor coverings but also as other interior items such as wall hangings, on sofas, tables, and beds. Their unique designs and colors are distinctive, and they are often utilized as accents in a room. Kilims are not merely decorative items but are important elements that enrich the overall atmosphere of a room and highlight its individuality. They add a unique charm and warmth to the space. By incorporating kilims, you can achieve a life surrounded by art and comfort, enjoying a life filled with your favorite things.
Kilims and InteriorsKilims are incredibly versatile and can be incorporated into various interior styles. In modern interiors, the unique patterns and colors of a kilim can add an accent to a simple space. For natural and Scandinavian interiors, combining kilims with wooden furniture, plants, and natural materials can enhance their warmth and natural ambiance. They also pair well with a bohemian atmosphere; laying them on the floor or hanging them on the wall can elevate the entire room's feel. Kilims have ethnic designs and a tribal feel, making them a good match for interiors that incorporate cultural elements from Iran, Turkey, or Morocco. Arranging them as tapestries or cushions can add warmth and depth to the entire room.
Daily CareRemove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom. If you are concerned about stains, dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important NotesDue to being hand-woven, there may be shape distortions, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
