Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, indicating their excellent durability.
Born from the climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created by the nomads' imagination, often features designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dye used to color the wool may be present.
Please note that the scent will gradually dissipate with use.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If you request, we can ship Gabbeh with the pom-poms on the corners or middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
