Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used for the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
