Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh is a long-pile rug woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh is warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. The Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often features animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping

If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
