Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who wander the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
These Gabbehs are hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using wool dyed with natural dyes, making them fluffy and pleasant to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel or similar. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilventilated shade.

Please Note

Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used for the wool.
The smell will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.

If requested, we can ship Gabbehs with the pom-poms on the corners and in the middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
