Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, grass-dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in oil, allowing for good temperature regulation.
Gabbeh are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you notice stains: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
