Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of natural oil, making it soft to the touch and effective for temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, resulting in a distinctively plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant diurnal temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in heat.
And, of course, their artistic quality is paramount. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, Gabbeh may exhibit irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
