Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
