Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who wander the Zagros Mountains in Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains. It also contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on such wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there is their artistry. The designs, imagined by the nomads, often feature animals and plants, making each Gabbeh a unique, one-of-a-kind original. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
