Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with ample oil content allows for efficient body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is so durable that it is said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
Please note that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.
