Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with such wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
It can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
