Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They hand-weave these rugs using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously one strand at a time by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from the climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. The Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
It can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used for the wool.
The smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
