Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile, hand-woven rug made by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh, created imaginatively by nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
It can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.
If requested, we can ship Gabbeh with the pompoms on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your Gabbeh to be shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
