Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, handwoven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains abundant oil for efficient body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, handwoven by Iranian nomads strand by strand after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so it does not feel hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
