Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are incredibly durable, said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh also possess the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool. This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
