Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who traverse the Zagros Mountains in Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is remarkably durable, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high oil content, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that effectively regulates body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush, comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipment if requested.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
