Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product boasts excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, efficiently regulates body temperature.
Gabbehs are characterized by their fluffy, comfortable feel, as they are hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, using wool dyed with natural dyes.
A well-woven Gabbeh is so durable that it is said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If it's particularly dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dye used on the wool.
Please note that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.

Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

If requested, we can ship the Gabbeh with the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
