Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, handwoven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and soft, pleasant-feeling fibers with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, of course, there's its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Important Notes

Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
