Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, natural dye, wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And, above all, its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
