Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, naturally-dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically graze the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in lanolin for effective thermoregulation, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
Gabbeh, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
