Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They hand-weave these rugs using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils that effectively regulates body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is so durable it's said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms Can Be Removed Upon Request

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped to you upon request. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
