Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as well as on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
